Dennis,
We were able to go to the Merriman conference on Tues.
I thought it was quite impressive, and hope something comes of it.
Thanks for the heads up on that, I agree it was definitely worth attending.
Sorry I missed you if you were there.
What did you come away with?
Again thanks , hope to talk to you soon.
Jim
Hi Dennis! Just updated my blog. Based on another golf course conversation about green energy. Play more golf, learn more about energy. Check it out at www.HowleyGreenEnergy.com All the best. John
Hi Dennis. I responded to your last comment, but messed up and it shows only on my page. If it's not too much trouble, check out my page for the response. Thanks. John
Hi Dennis! Thanks for the feedback. I'm with you. Hope it is different this time. Not entirely convinced it will be. All of our clients make their decisions solely on whether efficiency and conservation make economic sense. In the corporate mind, that means pay-backs less than 36 months. Which means solar, wind and other forms of alternative energy are not yet acceptable to most clients without heavy government subsidies. And the economy is making it difficult for governments to find the money for subsidies. I just heard that NJ probably will not go forward with a municipal energy audit program because of lack of funds.
But you may be right about Wall Street. A lot of money is going into alternative energy. Hopefully, we'll have some technological breakthroughs in solar, wind, etc. soon. And hopefully the next administration will keep their eyes on the prize -- eliminating dependence on oil and finding alternatives that are neutral on the environment.
As for the relationship between PV instalations and what my company does, there really is no overlap. We make electrical distribution systems more efficient regardless of the source.
Hi Dennis
I hope your new venture goes well. We live in interesting times. The changes are fascinating. Are you learning rapidly enough to suit you? You might get some value from my teaching web site www.homeenergy.wikispaces.com. It links to the best solar web sites I have found. Here's a most interesting current link: www.americangreen.tv. It focuses on solar energy develpments in Western North Carolina. Let me know if you find some great web sites I should add as new links from the homeenergy site. Warmest regards, Paul
Dennis, Thanks for the info. Now to answer your ? , if you can wait, I would. We are building a PHEV for the Auto X Prize, and so I know the technology is out there if we can do it. Soon in the next year or 2, there will be a few PHEV's out there. For now actually the best out there are the Jetta TDi's, which run 42mpg combined routinely. Hope that helps. Jim

It is long over one hour. But he is so well versed and impressive. Worth the time imo. I too have hopes for the forum, was actually thinking of starting my own. May still do so.
It's definitely time for change and showing people how to be green is the best way. I'm looking forward to what this forum may offer. Thanks for the input. I'll have to check out your suggestion.
