Speaker: Jiang Lin Lawrence Berkeley Labs, Scientist, China Sustainable Energy Program
Mr. Lin joined Lawrence Berkeley Labs in 1994 and has since conducted research on energy use and energy policies in China, focusing on energy efficiency policies. He has served as an advisor to government agencies in China and to institutions, such as the World Bank and the United Nations. Mr. Lin helped to develop and launch the United Nations Development Programme-Global Environment Facilty’s China Green Lights Project which promotes the use of high-efficiency lighting equipment and has also assisted China in developing appliance standards and labeling programs. In Shanghai, he advises the municipal government in developing market-based policies to stimulate investment in energy conservation. Prior to joining Lawrence Berkeley Labs, Mr. Lin conducted his post-doctoral research on the impact of China’s one-child policy on the pension system and kinship network. Earlier, he worked at the systems research group at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Has earned a BS from the Xi’an Jiaotong University and a PhD from the University of California at Berkeley.
