Need Funding For Your Training Programs? Green Is The Answer!

The Green Jobs Act of 2007 authorizes funding up to $125 million annually for job training in the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. Billions of dollars in American Recovery Act and Re-Investment Act cash are tied to projects that use renewable and sustainable technologies. Programs become eligible to apply for grants after they have incorporated green training into their curriculum.

Have you transitioned your training to Green?

When we are discussing Mechanical Systems, Green pertains to: Verification of a systems efficiency, Making America more energy efficient, and New sources of revenue for contractors. Rising energy cost, and making America more energy independent is on everyone’s mind. We can accomplish our goals through going green.

What is the Market for Green Jobs? There are currently 8.5 million U.S. jobs in renewable energy and energy efficiency industries. This is expected to grow to as many as 40 million by 2030. The industries that will grow the most green jobs are in the construction and service industries.

Energy efficiency has never been so closely tied to economic opportunity. However the National Renewable Energy Lab has identified a shortage of skilled and trained persons as a leading barrier to renewable energy and energy efficiency growth.

To help the HVACR industry understand more about Green and Sustainable Technologies, Mr. Steve Allen will address them at the 2010 National HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference.

Mr. Steve Allen (LEED AP) serves as Vice-Chair of the Green Mechanical Council, and is the Director of Green and Sustainable Technologies for the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices (UA). The UA serves as the training arm for: Johnson Controls, Carrier, York, Trane, Siemens, EMCOR and over 3,000 top employers in North America and their 350,000 employees.

To see first hand the many ways in which a building can become more energy efficient, use fewer natural resources and have minimal impact on the environment, Mr. Allen will be conducting an additional session in the Green and Sustainable Mobile HVACR Training Trailer.

The National HVACR Educators and Trainers Conference will be held March 14-16, 2010 at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, NV. The conference offers sessions on: new and changing technologies, changes in federal legislation, energy efficiency, best practices, training techniques that work, and green and sustainable technologies. The conference is open to anyone in the HVACR industry interested in learning about new and changing technologies. A full list of sessions, speakers and conference information is available at www.hvacexcellence.org or by calling 1-800-394-5268.
