A ceramic corn stove! A ceramic stove works much like soapstone on the stoves surfaces it heats up while the fuel being burnt and radiates heat even after the fire out. I was really susprised that they said if you had one of these ceramic stoves you only had to really build two fires a day. one in the morning and one in the evening to get radiant heat from the sove all day and night. Sounded a little far fetched at first but then I remembered experiencing something similar. my sister heats up a buckwheat bag to sooth her neck and lower back she uses the microwave to heat this hot pad thing and it gives off heat pretty steady for a long while. The ceramics heat all the way through in the time the fire is burning and begain to radiate the heat once the fire is out they continue to radiate heat it's the density of the material ceramic has a good heat retention characteristic called thermal retention it's ability to hold heat is close to if not better than soapstone it's dense and hold heat well
does not deterioate by being constantly heated and cooled. Different from cast iron. Cast iron has poor thermal chacteristics it radiates heat nicely but when the fore goes out it loses it heat abruptly afterwords compared to ceramic or soapstone. I know everyone can come up with a better stove kind of defeats the whole idea of burning corn cobs to begain with. I can picture one of those 55 gallon barrel stoves el cheapo shop stove heating the barn
burning nothing but corn cobs and cowterds but put some ceramics around that puppy and you can sit you tussy on it without scorching your buns.
radiant heat is so nice especially after picking up a wheel barrow of cor cobs and dry cow patties.
